Ornithology

Avian research at the University Museum of Bergen is to a great extent focusing on questions related to evolutionary ecology of birds. Studies are carried out in the field or by comparative analyses

Malacology

Research focus on biodiversity, systematics, biogeography and evolution of marine molluscs at a worldwide scale, with an emphasis on Heterobranchia gastropods

Ichthyology

Our research foci lie on biodiversity, evolutionary biology and conservation with a special focus but not exclusively on Chondrichthyan fishes (sharks, rays and chimaeras).

Research and researchers in the gardens

Our staff are involved in various research projects, with main focus on systematics and evolution of the flowering plant families Rosaceae and Ericaceae.

Entomology

We study insects, arachnids and myriapods, their diversity, evolution, and ecology with particular focus on bark beetles, true bugs, millipeds, spiders and mites.

Manet Team: Cnidaria and Ctenophora

We have a broad interest in the taxonomy, diversity, distributions, systematics, evolution, ecology, and general biology of medusozoan cnidarians and ctenophores in particular, but also other non-crustacean zooplankton.

Annelida

The annelid research at Department of Natural History is focused on biodiversity, systematics and evolution of marine species with special interest in the fauna of the North Atlantic and the Arctic Oceans.
